What size UV system do I need (Arros 9 vs 15 vs 22)?
Your system size will depend on household water usage and flow rate. Larger models (15 & 22) support higher flow and bigger homes. Our customer support team is happy to talk you through system sizing. Call 1 (877) 377-9876.
Do I need pre-filtration before UV?
Pre-filtration is often necessary because UV light requires clear water for effective disinfection. Sediment and other particles can block UV light and reduce performance. Arros IHS10 models include sediment filtration; IHS12 and IHS22 models include sediment and carbon filtration. The right pretreatment depends on your water quality. Contact our sizing experts for help choosing a system.
Does the Arros system remove chemicals or sediment?
The UV chamber disinfects water; it does not remove sediment, hardness, iron, chlorine or chemical contaminants. IHS models add sediment filtration, and IHS12/IHS22 configurations also include carbon filtration. Additional contaminant removal may require other treatment equipment suited to your water test results.
How effective is VIQUA Arros against E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium?
VIQUA Arros has been validated through microbial testing for inactivation of E. coli, Giardia, Cryptosporidium and fecal coliform. The Tidal™ chamber and UV lamp deliver the UV dose when the system is correctly sized, installed and maintained and water quality meets the system requirements. Arros V-series models are certified to NSF/ANSI 55 Class B; this certification applies to those specific models.

What water clarity is required for proper UV treatment?
For proper UV treatment, the water must be clear enough for UV light to pass through, with low turbidity (typically below 1 NTU) and minimal iron, hardness, or sediment. That’s why pre-filtration is important—cloudy or dirty water can block UV light and reduce disinfection effectiveness.
What maintenance does VIQUA Arros require, and how long does the lamp last?
Replace the all-in-one lamp and quartz sleeve module annually, at approximately 9,000 operating hours, following the owner’s manual. The pre-assembled module makes replacement a task that takes minutes. The controller tracks lamp usage and provides replacement reminders; its lamp timer resets to 365 days when a new lamp is installed.
IHS models also need sediment filters—and carbon filters where included—replaced every 6–12 months or as needed for your water conditions. Follow the model’s owner’s manual for shutdown, draining, replacement and restart procedures.
